The Woodland Carbon Code uses LinkedIn to share news, updates and information about our work, as well as to engage with individuals and organisations interested in woodland carbon projects. To maintain a professional and respectful environment, all users engaging with our content must adhere to this acceptable use policy.

Respectful and professional conduct
We welcome your comments, questions and feedback, but expect all users to engage respectfully. Comments or posts must not contain:
- Hate speech, discrimination or harassment based on race, gender, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation, or any other protected status.
- Defamatory, obscene or abusive language.
- Personal attacks, bullying or threats.
Relevant and appropriate content
Contributions should be relevant to the Woodland Carbon Code and the topics we discuss. The following are prohibited:
- Spam, self-promotion or commercial advertising.
- Misinformation, false claims or misleading content.
- Off-topic or irrelevant discussions unrelated to woodland carbon initiatives.
Intellectual property and compliance
Users must respect intellectual property rights, including copyrights and trademarks. Users must also comply with LinkedIn’s terms of service and applicable laws.
Moderation and enforcement
The Woodland Carbon Code team reserves the right to remove any content that violates this policy and take appropriate action, including reporting violations to LinkedIn or restricting access to our page for repeat offenders.
Content from other parties
Comments and replies on our LinkedIn page that are not posted by Woodland Carbon Code do not necessarily reflect our views. While we aim to share credible and reliable content, sharing or interacting with third-party posts does not imply our endorsement of all their content.

Stakeholder consultation policy
The Woodland Carbon Code is committed to improving and developing its frameworks, methodologies, protocols and activities.
Consultation is an important part of our development and stakeholder engagement activity. It ensures that the knowledge, skills and experiences of stakeholders are built into the operation and development of the code.
We use stakeholder consultation to enhance decision making, foster understanding and promote transparency.
Scope and definitions
The Woodland Carbon Code will consult stakeholders on:
- Major revisions to the standard’s requirements and documents
- New methodologies, procedures and documents
Stakeholders are defined as individuals or groups who may be affected by or who can influence the code’s actions.
Roles and responsibilities
Consultations will be initiated by the Woodland Carbon Code team. They may be run by staff, agencies or a combination of both, ensuring there are no conflicts of interest.
The Woodland Carbon Code’s governance boards will oversee all consultation processes.
Principles and process
Woodland Carbon Code consultations are planned in line with best practice guidance from the UK Government and Scottish Government, following a number of key steps and principles. This includes:
- Agreeing the purpose of consultations and running them at a formative stage in the development process
- Using stakeholder mapping techniques to identify relevant stakeholders
- Developing communication plans which use appropriate channels (e.g. the Woodland Carbon Code website and newsletter, direct email).
- Developing accessible, inclusive and informative communications and consultation materials
- Gathering and recording responses through online surveys and other methods over a proportionate timeframe (at least 30 days) in line with General Data Protection Regulation
- Analysing responses and using them to inform decisions along with other evidence
- Sharing consultation findings and outcomes in a transparent and timely manner
- Allowing appropriate time between the end of the consultation and implementation of any change
- Evaluating the consultation process and improving practice
Evaluation and revision
Consultations plans will include evaluation procedures to review the effectiveness of the consultation process and capture recommendations for improvement.
This policy will be reviewed on an annual basis to ensure it responds to feedback and changes in best practice.

Additionality test consultation
Background
The Woodland Carbon Code team commissioned EY to run an independent consultation on the financial additionality test that projects need to pass to be eligible for the code.
Additionality is an important principal for environmental markets as buyers want to know their purchase is making a difference.
The consultation took place between 17 October and 29 November 2024 and was promoted through webinars, newsletter and website articles, direct email and social media.
Anyone with an interest was invited to read the consultation paper and submit a response through a digital survey.
Responses
We received 46 formal responses from a range of individuals and organisations as well as additional feedback through other channels.
Thank you to everyone who submitted a response. Your insights are helping us to review the additionality test and shape the future of the code.
Next steps
We are working to analyse the results and test the feasibility of suggestions. We will provide an update on the next steps by spring 2025.
