This accessibility statement applies to www.woodlandcarboncode.org.uk

This website is run by the Woodland Carbon Code team at Scottish Forestry.  

We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

•    Change colours, contrast levels, and fonts using your browser or device settings
•    Zoom in up to 300% without loss of content or functionality
•    Navigate the website using a keyboard, with a visible focus indicator
•    Use speech recognition software to interact with key features

We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

• Some older PDF documents are not fully accessible to screen readers
• Certain videos published before 2024 may not include captions or transcripts
• Some interactive elements may not meet minimum contrast or focus visibility requirements

Disproportionate burden

At this time, it would be a disproportionate burden to retrospectively fix all older documents and multimedia content. However, we are committed to ensuring that all new or updated content meets accessibility requirements going forward.

Content not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

• Third-party content not funded or developed by the Woodland Carbon Code (e.g. embedded maps or external links) may not meet accessibility standards
• Archived documents published before 23 September 2018 are exempt unless they are essential for active administrative processes. 

We are committed to improving accessibility. We are taking the following steps or planning to do so soon:

• Including accessibility as part of our communications strategy and planning
• Ensuring staff are aware of accessibility guidance
• Improving website navigation
• Making text as easy to read as possible
• Ensuring images and graphs have alternative text
• Ensuring videos have subtitles and transcripts
• Reviewing the use of pdf documents
• Planning to complete a formal accessibility review in 2025
